PRE-SCHOOL GYMNASTICS

 

                                                  STARBRIGHT TUMBLERS

 

          Starbright Tumblers is the pre-school gymnastics program of Starbright Gymnastics LLC. Starbright Tumblers is for girls and boys from ages 3 thru 5, and contains many exciting features that will benefit all children who are enrolled. Our program combines methods that we have learned from many years of teaching along with using the latest research in child development for pre-school aged children.

          Our gymnastics program stresses fundamentals of body movement along with basic gymnastics skills which are appropriate for pre-school children. We teach by encouragement and the safety of our students is always our number one priority. We try to make our classes interesting and enjoyable for all our gymnasts. We would like to stress that our classes are not just organized play time. We want our gymnasts to have fun and to look forward to coming to gymnastics, but we feel that this age is a wonderful time for children to learn and develop, so we take much care in planning our lessons, so that our students get the full benefits of gymnastics.

          Our gym is well equipped for pre-school gymnastics. We have a large floor area plus a tumble track for movement exercises and for tumbling. We also have uneven bars, balance beams and specialty equipment for pre-school gymnastics. Our classes are small and our ratio of students to teachers is never more than 5 to 1. Occasionally, we may have a teacher call in sick, but when enrollment goes over five in a class, we will always have an extra teacher. In addition, we will not schedule more than 10 students total in both rooms. If a student is taking a make-up class you may see an extra student, but we never schedule more than ten students at a time in our gym.

 

           Our classes will start with warm-up activities which review skills that the students have previously learned. We like to use music that our students enjoy, and that helps them to develop a sense of rhythm and coordination. After warm-ups we teach them their new skills for the day and then we combine everything together in the form of a story in which the children play a part with their gymnastics. In addition to physical activities, we take advantage of the many teachable moments which arise during the class. We try to incorporate math and reading concepts that are appropriate for the ages of the students. We find that the children really enjoy solving problems that occur in a story and enjoy working together to come up with a happy result. We are certain that this will also help them when they are ready to attend regular school. We end each class with a warm-down routine, and try our best to make each class a positive and enjoyable experience for each child.

          Parents are able to observe classes by looking at the monitor that is located in our waiting room. We also use the last class in each session for parent observation and the children really enjoy showing their parents what they have learned in class.
